Deb was nominated because a patient's surgery was moved up and there was no time to send the pre-operative wash kit. Hip and knee replacement patients wash the operative area each day for 2 days or 5 days before surgery, depending on how they test for MSSA/MRSA. There was no time to mail the kit, so Deb hand delivered it to the patient's home. This made the patient's day and promoted safety.
