I had my first baby 4 1/2 months ago, and during my pregnancy I had always heard stories about Deb Wolff, a nurse in the birthing unit. I heard stories about "I hope you get Deb when you deliver, she's amazing". I ended up being in the hospital early for induction due to some high blood pressure issues. I had a very long labor process, and it took me over four days to deliver my baby, which ultimately came by C-section. I cannot tell you how important it was to meet Deb Wolff, be in the presence of Deb, and have Deb there for such an integral part of our lives. Deb took the time to know my family, laugh with my husband, and interact with my step daughter when she came to visit. She always made everybody feel welcome in the room and never made anybody feel like they were a burden or a nuisance for visiting.
This was a very vulnerable time for me, as I was mentally and physically exhausted from the process of delivering and recovering. I was in the hospital for seven days as an inpatient in Family Birth, and I prayed every day that I would get Deb when she was working. When being induced and while in recovery, Deb was not just a nurse...she was like family. She comforted me, consoled me, hugged me, bathed me, and regardless how busy the unit was; gave me undivided attention. Anytime I felt like I was complaining too much, she reassured me that she was there to make me more comfortable, and that any of my concerns were warranted. I had a rough recovery and could not get out of bed as easily as some post C-section patients. As a new mother, I was constantly worried about my little baby in the bassinet. I knew whenever Deb was my nurse that she would help pick him up, comfort him, snuggle and love him, just as he was her own family member.
Not only is Deb extraordinarily compassionate, she is smart and trusted in her profession. All of her peers and the Doctors trusted and treat Deb with the utmost respect. I heard Deb has trained many nurses on the unit, because she is so effective.
I could go on for days about why I think Deb Wolff is not only an amazing human being, but such an asset to our patients and our organization as an RN. She has dedicated her career for decades to being the best nurse possible. She exudes all the service standards above and beyond my expectations and I have so much respect for her and her abilities.
I was in outpatient for five days prior to my induction for pregnancy related treatment, then was in the hospital as an inpatient in the birthing unit for seven days. I had a rough delivery and a rough recovery; and I am confident saying that I had the BEST experience and BEST delivery, because of Deb Wolff. Professionally delivered and trusted clinical skills, compassionate care, and outstanding personality; are just a few ways to describe Deb Wolff.
