Debbie Bartley's colleagues nominated her for the DAISY Award because of her compassion, professionalism, excellent medical evaluation skills and her teamwork attitude. They feel that Debbie is a role model for all nurses. They noted a specific experience where Debbie's compassion and professionalism was shining brightly.
A few months ago, her patient desperately wanted to shave. Unfortunately, he and was not allowed to use a razor. The situation began to escalate as the patient became very upset. Debbie restored his dignity. She was very compassionate and gave him the shave herself, giving him the 5-star treatment. It was like a barbershop; she really took the time. As a result, the patient was very happy and the situation diffused.
She restored his dignity with great compassion and also treated him medically due to the calming effect. I am confident this demonstrates her character and is the character of a nurse to be emulated.
