May 2024 Honoree
Debbie Damon, Registered Nurse
Last summer, after having a molar pregnancy, I received a diagnosis of gestational trophoblastic disease, which is a rare form of cancer. I'd never heard of this condition before, and it was very difficult to be suffering from a pregnancy loss and operation and suddenly have a cancer diagnosis. I started my treatment at Charing Cross Hospital, and Debbie was my assigned clinical nurse. She was so warm and attentive from the first moment I met her, explaining everything in a very clear way while also remaining compassionate and empathetic to my feelings. Every time I saw her I would feel very uplifted and cared for. I always felt like I could ask her anything and get an answer to any query, however silly it was. I have now finished my treatment, and I definitely think that the way Debbie looked after me has helped immensely with my overall recovery and well-being. Thank you, Debbie, so much!
Thank you, Debbie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
