Debbie Marshburn is a legend! She is a nursing leader who is well respected not only for her leadership ability but also for her kindness, caring and compassionate understanding.
Debbie listens and leads. She is consistently supportive of those that rely on her knowledge and expertise and is a constant source of strength. She’s calm under pressure and always knows the right person or direction to point to when there is a concern.
She often arrives early and leaves late. There is always a warm and friendly smile and words of encouragement regardless of the hour. She has a true open-door policy and extends professionalism to everyone she encounters. She knows your name, values your input, and makes a place for you at the table.
Debbie has taught us many lessons – the most important lesson is to always hold the bar high because doing our best for patients is the noblest calling. She expects us to learn, stretch and grow. She encourages professional development and reaching for advanced degrees and/or specialty certifications. Debbie also taught us to celebrate! She generously celebrates our achievements and the art of nursing through the DAISY Award, the LITE Award, Nurse Speak, Clinical Ladder promotions, and especially Nurses Week!
Debbie is committed to developing best practices and providing safe, consistent, quality nursing care across our growing healthcare system. She checks in on each facility and fosters a culture of collaboration while incorporating each campus into a large healthcare organization. She integrates an understanding of the big picture with goals for each hospital and is very attentive to detail.
