Where do we even start? Debbie is known to always go above and beyond for everyone she works with as well as her patients. She continually puts herself in uncomfortable and frustrating situations, bending over backward to help anybody and everybody - every single shift. Debbie takes time to truly listen to all of us, she offers advice and always has the best intentions in mind. She is the “rock” of our unit.

We recently had a provider ask Debbie to help a patient by asking the 14th floor for a Doppler to listen to the patient's expecting sister’s baby’s heartbeat, in the hope that this would help cheer the 27-year-old patient on who is dying from cancer. Debbie immediately walked around the floor and took it upon herself to find a handheld Doppler. Debbie found the heartbeat of the patient’s future niece/nephew, allowing the patient and her family to sit and enjoy this special moment together. I am sure that this is something that will live on, forever, in this family’s memories.

This was just one example of how Debbie goes out of her way, above and beyond. This is who Debbie is as a person and who Debbie is as a nurse. We all wanted to recognize and say thank you, Debbie, for just being you and choosing us and our patients every single day. We do not know what we would do without you.
