Debbie Wallace goes above and beyond for her students and the faculty. She is always available for help and strives to grow those around her. Debbie gives of herself, her time, and her knowledge to educate the nurses of tomorrow and mentor those around her. In the last quarter of my first year of teaching, Debbie came by my office to see how I was doing. She cared about me and saw the potential that I didn’t necessarily see. During our chat, she discovered I didn’t have a clicker for my PPT presentations. A week later, Debbie stopped by and gave the other new Professor and me a clicker! I have a hunch that she bought these using her funds. This act may seem simple and unimportant to some, but to me, it was an act of mentorship and demonstrated that she cared. Debbie is an exemplary educator and leader. For this reason, I would like to nominate her to receive the DAISY Award, which represents someone who cares deeply for her students and colleagues.
