Debbie shares her knowledge and history with everyone and truly represents nursing's process and practice in her care and compassion each and every day.
Debbie is a wonderful nurse leader. She orientates, covers and has great staff rapport. During the 2023 year, Debbie found herself being the resource for many leaders at Children's Hospital of Michigan. Debbie has 40 years of service at CHM and with that service history has become a resident. This year Debbie was called on to manage her unit and another 2 different times. Not only did Debbie do this, but she brought to those units a highly structured and organized model that has been successful in her unit. In addition, Debbie finds herself a preceptor for 3 different nurse managers and directors. Debbie shares her knowledge and history with everyone and truly represents nursing's process and practice in her care and compassion each and every day.
Staff rapport and feedback from Debbie's RN's:
-RN#1: There was one night we were down a nurse. Every nurse on the unit had 6 patients and charge had an assignment. Debbie came in to be charge and/or work the floor. She always goes above and beyond and is always willing to work the floor so we have a good nurse/patient ratio for patient safety.
-RN#2: In the short time I have been working at Children's, I have seen Debbie go above and beyond. She is nothing short of amazing. I've had the pleasure of seeing her go out of her way many times to help keep things running smoothly. I first met Debbie when she came over to 6W to help in a time of need. She made sure the entire staff felt supported during the transition. Not only was she still running her own unit, she was being a great leader and mentor to a new manager. She has a tremendous amount of love for the job that she does, and it shows every day. She treats everyone with respect and kindness. Even when she is busy, she always takes time out of her day to make sure everyone is doing okay. She is a great problem solver and she makes the hard stuff look easy. I am very proud to have her as a boss and a mentor.
