German was able to facilitate having new glasses ordered and even paid for them out of her own pocket.
Debi German, a registered nurse in the Surgical Specialties Unit, recently received a DAISY Award for her dedication to lifting a patient’s spirits.
When German could tell that one of her patients was feeling depressed, she reached out to see how she could help. It turns out the patient couldn’t find her glasses and was unable to watch TV. While she couldn’t find the patient’s glasses, German was able to facilitate having new glasses ordered and even paid for them out of her own pocket.
“Debi goes above and beyond daily, but this particular instance was exceptional,” the nomination form said. “Debi is this kind every day to every patient. She has a special ability to make people smile and feel her genuine kindness.”
