On the late afternoon of February 7th my husband was moved from CCU to Room 518. At that time he was very ill and receiving comfort care. Debbie Behm was his night nurse that evening and the night of February 8th. She regularly checked on my husband and me. Since I was spending the nights, she provided linens, a pillow, and ginger ale to me. I knew my husband was dying; each time she came in she would answer any questions I had. She explained the meds she was giving and went the extra mile to give me comfort.
About 3:20 am February 9th, I awoke to stand by my husband's beside. His breathing was changing. Debbie told me to call when I needed her. When I called, she came. Debbie put her arms around me and joined me as we prayed The Lord's Prayer and sang "Jesus Loves Me". She stayed right with me as my husband passed away. I was so grateful.
During both nights, as we became acquainted, I found her to be a professional nurse and a compassionate, gentle, Christian lady. Surely the good Lord put her in my path during two very sad, stressful nights. I believe he was also comforted by Debbie's kind words and tender care of his needs. I am truly thankful for this good nurse.
