March 2022 Honoree
Deborah Branch Watkins, BSN, RN
The evening nurse, Deborah came to my room and introduced herself. She was friendly, extremely personable, and demonstrated unparalleled concern for my well-being. I was in the hospital for an infection and was under isolation. My children do not live in the area and my husband recently passed. So, being in isolation was difficult and lonely. Deborah's concern and positive attitude helped greatly with my situation. As I have restless leg syndrome my legs cause me a great deal of pain at night and I have difficulty sleeping. Deborah observed my discomfort and took a number of steps to help improve my situation such as arranging for a hot bath for my legs to ease the pain. I felt that Deborah went above the call of duty. As a result of her actions, my pain eased and I was able to sleep for several hours. Something I had not been able to do during my stay. If all nurses were as attentive and caring as Deborah the world would be a much brighter place.
Thank you, Deborah, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
