I'm a PSR [patient safety representative] and have worked with Deb on numerous occasions, not only is she a pleasure to work with but she is an inspiration to me, a student looking forward to a career in nursing. I recently took a CPR/BLS recertification class with Deb, it was just the two of us in our group and she was so helpful and encouraging even when I would forget steps, she was patient with me.

One specific situation that encouraged me to nominate Deb for the DAISY Award was when a patient in the ER was awaiting discharge, and had no clean clothes to leave the hospital in. It was the middle of December and 30 degrees outside, Deb helped the woman get dressed into a clean gown and pants but realized she had no coat. Deb, without hesitation walked to her locker and got her own coat to give to the woman so that she would not have to go out in the cold without one. Deb's actions that night were incredibly selfless and I hope that I can be half the nurse she is someday.
