Deborah Price Deborah is a deserving recipient of the DAISY award. She is a person who exemplifies the kind of faculty member who is recognized as someone who demonstrates caring, compassion, incorporates these traits in their course, and is an outstanding role model. Ms. Price demonstrates leadership in research-based teaching. Specifically, she developed a new evidence-based practice learning experience in N452, Complex Needs, through careful consultation with professional nurse experts, faculty members and the health science librarians. Students’ comments reflect the value of this learning experience for their professional development. Students describe Ms. Price’s leadership role and her influence on making this a high quality, clinically relevant, and challenging for instructors and students. Her use of case studies stimulates students’ critical thinking. Students express appreciation for her use of critical questioning during clinical in the critical care unit, and its effect on their decision-making skills. Students also acknowledge her ability to relate very complex course material or patient healthcare needs in a comprehensive format. She shows her commitment to students’ learning by staying after class and clinical hours to answer questions, by planning additional learning experiences, and by conveying genuine interest in their success.
