Deborah truly represents what it means to be a transformational leader. Beyond just her role as a Nurse Manager, she has many years of knowledge and experience that she is always eager to share. In the year that we have been under her leadership, we see her heart for not only the patients but for her staff. Deborah is the kind of manager that will go above and beyond to make everyone feel seen, heard, cared for, and valued. Deborah once shared with us that when she comes into work she makes sure she checks on her team first because she knows that if her team is well taken care of then the patients are too. Deborah displays the perfect combination of firm leadership and human relations skills which has encouraged us to become better individuals, leaders, and nurses.

Deborah is not afraid to get her hands dirty as a manager and is always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Her commitment to quality patient care is evident as she spends time with each patient. She has earned everyone’s respect through her act of selflessness and with her “open door” policy. As a role model, Deborah has created an environment of professional development, compassion, and ethical behavior. She clearly communicates organizational priorities to her team, which includes the Observation medical team, to support the achievement of the goals.
