Deborah embodies the tenets of a DAISY Nurse through her work at the Child Advocacy Center whose patients are seen when there is an allegation of child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect. The necessary patience, listening, and compassion are exacerbated by a tremendous need to be skilled in recognizing signs and symptoms of child abuse that can be easily explained away.
Deborah has over thirty years of experience in the nursing field. Her knowledge, experience, and skill are critical to the functioning of the department. Deborah's kindness and gentle demeanor with the children and their caregivers go above and beyond. Her calm presence is reassuring to children and their caregivers.
Deborah not only shows compassion to the children and caregivers served, but she is also a great support to her fellow colleagues. She shows dedication and willingness to assist and educate nurses, providers, and other multidisciplinary partners in the Criminal Justice System and Human Services systems. She is looked upon by her multidisciplinary team members for guidance in decision making about the wellbeing of the children served.
Deborah is a DAISY Nurse due to her compassionate and nurturing nature shown to the children and family's she provides care for but also to all around her.
