Deb exemplifies the real meaning of a nurse navigator. She just recently started with us but she takes ownership of our unit. She's very knowledgeable and very good resource person not just for nurses but also for ACP's and physicians as well.
I very well remember when I had a patient diagnosed with a facial tumor but the first ENT that saw this patient was discharging him because he is self-pay and was told when you have your insurance you can come to my office. Deb coordinated everything for this patient and got another ENT to give a second opinion. The second ENT stated it is necessary that we operate on you while you are here. The patient had surgery and was very thankful that Deb was able to be his advocate.
