Debbie was the nurse to my newborn son who had some complications from birth. Debbie allowed us to provide as much hands-on care as possible and encouraged us to do so. I had a c-section and was unable to do some of the usual new-mom tasks. My husband and I have joked that she taught us how to be parents in a way.
Debbie took it the extra mile by assisting the lactation consultant in helping me learn to breastfeed, taught my husband how to change a diaper and burp, and the list goes on. She took us in as her own and we would not have been nearly as equipped leaving the hospital with a newborn without her. We felt much more confident from the education and support she provided. She is truly one of a kind!
