It is not always easy to walk into a very packed and overflowing department, but Deb always remains cool, calm, and collected! Deb immediately started her shift and took report on a patient who had been holding in the department for several hours.
Deb met all her patients and discovered that this one particular patient was experiencing a birthday. Deb began making plans on how to help the patient celebrate, as the patient was clearly distraught and upset about spending her birthday in the hospital. Deb went to the gift shop and purchased her patient a vase of beautiful flowers.
Deb went out of her way to make this patient feel extra special on her birthday. Moments like this are why I love working with nurses like Deb. Thank you, Deb, for taking the time to show compassion, empathy, and reassurance to a patient who needed a little extra attention that day!
