We had to bring our 7-year-old granddaughter to the emergency department because her leg was red, swollen and blistering one night. The ED was very busy and the waiting area was packed. They were able to get us back in a timely manner but because the scope of practice of the LPN who normally works there does not include IV therapy on children, the NP who was the practitioner in the area took sole care of her. Her name was Deb Hoplight. She was phenomenal! She was patient, kind, soft-spoken and gentle. Even though our granddaughter cried when the IV was put in, she remained still and a trooper through the entire process and we have no doubt it was because of the wonderful demeanor of Deb! My husband and I cannot say enough praises about how she was that evening - words just can't express! She is the kind of caregiver everyone hopes to have when they enter the hospital.
