Debra is a colleague of mine and goes above and beyond for her patients. She recently had a patient who was passing away and his family (who live nearby) was not present, so she sat at his bedside throughout the shift and into the morning holding his hand and reassuring him until he passed on. I have also seen her do similar things with other patients, like a confused patient in SCU where she taught me if I hold the patient's hand and sing songs with her, she calms down, allows cares and immediately relaxes. Debbie is also a great resource to other nurses on the floor that she works, and especially to our new hires that she orients.
