From the moment she walked into the room I felt safe.
I have been here with my 95-year-old mother for the last 10 days. I am an RN and felt I needed to be here for my mom’s safety. On Monday Deb was assigned to my mom, from the moment she walked into the room I felt safe. Deb made rounds immediately after report and addressed any concerns I had and in that process got the ball rolling that resulted in a cyoto being done for my mom who had been bleeding from her bladder since admission with subsequent 4 units of PRBCs. She also addressed a sore that my mom had on her right ankle and determined that a referral was needed to the wound nurse after notifying the physician. The wound nurse was in and worked with me. Deb had asked if the needle in mom’s port had been changed and thereafter determined it needed to be changed so she called Oncology, the nurse came down, changed the needle and the dressing. Deb also had a student during this time, as I listened to her teach the student, she was great! All of these situations indicate her ability to naturally care for patients safely, which I believe as nurses is our #1 responsibility. Additionally, she is kind and caring. My mother felt safe and liked her a lot.
