When I think about the kind of nurse I want to be, Deb always comes to mind. She is an extraordinary RN. Many times I have witnessed her putting herself in patients' shoes to make sure they feel seen and heard. She is a resident advocate and a staff advocate. Although she is responsible for an entire unit (sometimes 2) she is always taking the opportunity to lend a hand or an ear to her fellow staff members. Deb treats everyone with dignity and respect. I have watched her take the extra few minutes to explain things to an anxious patient, hold the scared patient's hand, and cry with grieving family members. She shows empathy, kindness, generosity, and love to all of her patients every single day. She is an asset to our team and so deserving of this award.
