North Shore University Hospital
Deb brings a great amount of energy motivation and a “get it done” attitude to our very hectic unit.
Deb is one of the best managers anyone could ever ask for. She cares about her staff and goes above and beyond and has a heart of gold. During the pandemic, she was our hero. She was right by our side supporting and helping as we worked to save lives. She supported families when their loved ones passed. She was a hand to hold and a shoulder to cry on. When patients were discharged, she would escort them outside to greet their families.
I have been the physician lead on this unit for three years and I have had the opportunity to personally witness the countless reasons she should receive a DAISY Award. She is a true advocate of the patients on this unit. She makes it a point to round on every single patient. If she sees that any patient is upset, she is the first to give them a hug, if she notices someone is in pain, she is the first to intervene even amidst this pandemic. If a chair or bed alarm goes off she is the first to run to them. She makes herself available to all family members and is sure to give them updates. Deb brings a great amount of energy motivation and a "get it done" attitude to our very hectic unit. She is not only a leader to the nursing staff but a role model to our medical residents as well. She has an open-door policy and is always willing to help out a colleague. Whether or not she has the answer she is always willing to try and figure it out.

During COVID-19, I had difficulty coping with stress and it was Deb who expressed kindness, strength, and dedication and helped me survive this difficult time. She is my hero.
She encourages her staff to think critically and always has our backs
I have worked with Deb for 20 years she is very dedicated and hard-working. She works with the staff and understands the needs of our employees.
She is supportive of her staff and cares about patients and families. She is a true gem. She helped in every possible situation while we were a COVID-19 unit without even thinking of herself.
She made herself available to our needs and understanding of our family, She was respectful, compassionate, and helpful to us.
