As a full-time caregiver, my time and strength go into caring for my disabled combat veteran. When I felt that the VA failed my husband, I took him to see an outside provider and learned that they can help with his chronic pain due to a back injury he sustained overseas. Now you may ask yourself, why give one of the VA Nurses the DAISY Award? Here's why:
When Debra learned about my husband's issues, she moved mountains and went above and beyond to make sure that we wouldn't have to worry about the surgery bill. What took community care 30 days or more, Debra got done in three days, making sure we didn't have to worry. Just because one provider failed us doesn't mean that all are the same. Debra has given us the gift of not having to worry about how we would pay for my husband's surgery, and at the same time, made sure that my husband was taken care of.
Debra went above and beyond, demonstrating that care can be given in any form.
