She immediately placed her hand on my shoulder and told me everything was going to be ok. I trusted her and knew that she would look after me. I will never forget her words of kindness and support that day.
I would love to nominate Debra, the wonderful, amazing Nurse who works in the IVF Clinic. She has been a solid calming presence throughout my IVF journey. I will always be extremely grateful to her for all her help and assistance during this IVF voyage. I was particularly anxious from the onset. I was aboard in a foreign country attempting my 10th IVF, it was so scary for me. Tensions were high, and I felt like a bag of nerves. From the very first day, Debra's calming disposition instantly put me at ease. She intuitively knew that I was in a bad place. She offered the kindest words and empathy every day that I visited for scans and follow ups. Honestly, because of Debra, the whole experience was much easier than I anticipated.
One day stands out more in my memory than any other. I had been waiting all day for my IVF drugs to arrive at our apartment via courier. I needed to be at the clinic at 3 o'clock so that the nurses could demonstrate how to inject the medications. The courier was delayed therefore I was late for my appointment. These drugs are time-sensitive and need to be given at a certain time every day. I was so fearful that this would affect my egg yield. By the time I arrived at the clinic I was distraught, late and panicking about everything. Debra brought me and my husband into a private room. She immediately placed her hand on my shoulder and told me everything was going to be ok. I trusted her and knew that she would look after me. I will never forget her words of kindness and support that day. I went into the clinic a complete wreck & left like someone who had done an hour long meditation. I was at peace and content as Debra had calmed me down. I felt so confident after her teaching session on how to give the injections. She was excellent at explaining and showed patience and compassion towards me.
Historically, whenever I have to have a transvaginal US, I am so nervous and frightened. I have a history of cervical cancer, so internal examinations are very difficult for me, both physically and mentally. However, Debra had a way of inserting the probe so gently that it never hurt me. She was so skilled at doing this. Every time I went there, I knew it would not hurt as Debra was performing the insertion. This was a major comfort to me, considering my history. Honestly, I will always remember Debra for her hard work and true devotion to me in getting me through this journey successfully. She is an earth angel and we were so lucky to have her as our nurse. As patients, we are so vulnerable - Debra, I am so grateful to you. Thank you. I will never forget your support and kindness. You were born to be a Nurse.
