I struggle with alcoholism and mental illness. I have PTSD and have struggled so much in my life. I have been judged and ridiculed by many healthcare professionals in my life. Debbie took a lot of time to get to know me and my struggles. She even inspired me to get my life back on track by sharing some stories with me that helped me realize that I am not alone; that others can relate to me and that I can even help people with my own stories. Nurses like Debbie are exactly the kind of nurses that people with struggles and mental illness can benefit greatly from. I am so grateful for having met Debbie and for the conversations we had.
