Debra works in the acute care surgical unit and was nominated by a patient's mother for her quick thinking, calm demeanor, and advocacy. The patient was being kept for observations following complications from surgery when her mother received a call from Debra explaining that her daughter was being taken back for emergency surgery. "At this point, little did I know the critical role Debbie played in my daughter's life," the mother said.
Debra got a team together to help comfort the daughter and called the doctor to explain the seriousness of bleeding. "The doctor explained that because of Debbie's skills and quick thinking, the surgery event went very well." Through the entire process, Debra served as a support and comfort for both daughter and mother. "She is our guardian angel, and someone I will never forget."
