Dee Rooney was the nurse that looked after me when I had my pacemaker surgery a few months ago. I was terrified and frightened going into the hospital that morning. Dee went above and beyond to reassure me that everything would be ok and to try to keep me calm. Even when she struggled to find a vein for the cannula, she showed great patience and did everything she could to make sure she had a good vein before inserting a needle as she knew how scared I was. She made the whole experience a more positive one. She listened to everything I had to say and took the time out of her busy day to talk to me making sure I was ok. This showed she cared and I was more than just another patient lying in a bed. When I returned the following week to get the stitches removed, I was delighted to see Dee again. I was immediately at ease when she was the one that would be removing the stitches. Again she showed her gentle, caring and friendly nature reassuring me as she got to work. As someone who avoided going to the doctor for years due to fear, Dee and their team made sure this visit to the hospital was nothing but a positive experience.
