There aren't always happy endings for the mothers on the unit. DeeDee, as the Bereavement Coordinator, is always the nurse in these situations and knows that it can take an emotional toll. I have witnessed DeeDee crying with patients and still providing them with the best care. She always puts her patients' physical and emotional needs first.

DeeDee showed us compassion, professionalism, her outgoing personality, and love through our loss. She helped us deliver our beautiful son and she was constantly checking in on us. She was gentle with our son and dressed him so that we could capture some final memories to remember him. Her spirit helped more than words can express on that first day. Her strength and caring heart helped us with the first steps in coping with our loss. She helped us start our journey of healing and dealing with our pain.
