I would like to nominate Delaney for the DAISY Award because she consistently provides thoughtful, attentive, and top-notch care every time she is assigned as our nurse. From the beginning, Delaney took the time to listen and truly notice our daughter’s interests and needs. She is intentional about remembering special details that make our daughter feel seen and understood, and this alone has made a tremendous difference in her hospital experience. Delaney was our nurse during some of the most difficult days of our daughter’s hospitalization, when her health began tipping toward needing more intensive care. During this time, Delaney went above and beyond to help stabilize her. When additional scans were needed, she accompanied us without hesitation, offering steady reassurance and comfort while our daughter was feeling extremely unwell. There was a moment when other hospital associates were not honoring our daughter’s needs, and Delaney immediately stepped in to advocate for her. She recognized the discrepancy in care and completed eye-on safety checks to ensure it would not happen again. Her advocacy made us feel supported and protected during a time when we felt vulnerable. Throughout the unexpected lab results and the emotional weight of a very challenging week, Delaney served as a calm in the storm. She comforted our daughter mentally, emotionally, and physically, meeting her where she was and helping her through each obstacle with compassion and grace. One gesture that meant so much to our daughter was when Delaney brought her a bracelet that spelled “BRAVE” in Morse code. Our daughter now keeps it on the stuffed animal she sleeps with every night. It is a lasting reminder of Delaney’s kindness, encouragement, and belief in her strength. Delaney has demonstrated kindness, leadership, and compassion far beyond measure. Her care has impacted our family in ways we will never forget, and she truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award.
