I am an employee and Nurse Delaney was taking care of my dying brother. I knew we had the best nurses, but it's so different when you see them taking care of your loved one. My brother got the best care from Delaney. I watched her take care of my brother as if he was just sleeping. She was very gentle, she even spoke to my brother when she was changing his tubes. Even though my brother was dying she treated him with the utmost respect and care. Well, you say that is what nurses do; it is but I witnessed this nurse do it with my family member. My brother did pass, but Delaney had the heart to tell me his last words. Those words have gotten me through some pretty rough days. You see I work at Parkland. My brother and I were both born at Parkland.
That means a lot to me, to watch someone take care of my brother as if he was in HER family. I make bears and donate them to Parkland. I have made bears for that floor because of what Delaney did for my brother. The bears are called "My Brother's Keeper" bears. Because of Delaney, I was able to walk back across the street to old Parkland knowing in my heart my brother was in great hands. There is not a moment that goes by that I don't recall the impact of Delaney telling me those words my brother said...that means the world to me and my family. So you see, I am an employee and a family member of someone that received the best hospital care. Nurse Delaney, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
