I am forever grateful for Delaney's unwavering support and dedication.
I am writing to nominate Delaney for the DASIY Award in recognition of her exceptional care during my emergency C-section for the birth of my daughter. From the moment she introduced herself to my husband and me, she provided a level of compassion and professionalism that made an incredibly stressful situation feel manageable. Her calm demeanor and reassuring presence helped alleviate my fears as we navigated the unexpected circumstances.
Delaney took the time to explain each step of the process, ensuring that I felt informed and supported throughout the procedure. Her genuine concern for my well-being and that of my baby was evident in every interaction. Due to our daughter's continuing distress, the call was made to forgo waiting for the epidural to take effect and to switch to using general anesthesia. Obviously scared, Delaney stayed right by my side, helping ease my fears as I prepared to be sedated.
Additionally, since my husband wasn't allowed in the OR, Delaney went above and beyond by running back to retrieve his phone so we could capture our daughter's first moments. As I was being put under, I felt a profound sense of peace knowing she was by my side, advocating for both me and my daughter.
After the surgery, Delaney continued to provide outstanding care, always checking in and making sure I was comfortable. She went the extra mile to ensure I had everything I needed, both physically and emotionally. She also took care of my visiting family, making sure they had what they needed and even taking the time to learn what each grandparent planned to be called and calling them by their new grandparent name. Her kindness and expertise truly made a difference during one of the most important moments of my life. I am forever grateful for Delaney's unwavering support and dedication.
As a nurse myself, and with my husband being a physician, we recognize the dedication and skill required in this profession. Delaney exemplifies the very best of nursing: she consistently exceeded our expectations and demonstrated true compassion.
