I would like to nominate Nurse Delilah for the DAISY Award for her exceptional care and dedication during our recent stay in the PICU. After a frightening operating room event, our infant son, who had already spent three months in the NICU due to premature birth, was unexpectedly readmitted to the ICU just two weeks after being discharged. Over the course of our son's hospitalizations, we encountered many nurses, but none matched the attentiveness, compassion, and professionalism of Nurse Delilah. From the moment she cared for him in the PICU, Delilah went above and beyond to ensure our son's well-being and our peace of mind. While other nurses seemed desensitized to the constant beeping of ICU alarms, Delilah responded to every alarm with urgency and care. She reassured us each time, promptly silenced the alarms, and made sure we understood what was happening. Her vigilance provided immense comfort during an incredibly stressful time. Delilah's presence was a constant source of reassurance. She was always nearby and easy to find, consistently diligent in her duties, and treated our family with the same care and attention she would her own. Instead of allowing erroneous alerts to continue beeping, she sought solutions by adjusting monitor settings, consulting with physicians about necessary changes, or explaining the situation to us in detail. Her proactive approach and clear communication made a world of difference.

Furthermore, Delilah was a relentless advocate for our son. When a physician was delayed in placing feeding or medication orders, she persistently followed up until the orders were finally put in place. Her advocacy ensured that our son received timely and appropriate care, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her patients. Nurse Delilah exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding nurse. Her dedication, compassion, and proactive approach to patient care have had a profound impact on our family.
