It is not easy being a nurse and an employee with terrible sudden onset of pain and vomiting and having to come to the ED. Dena was my nurse and without a doubt she was STELLAR! I was off the wall in pain and she was calm, reassuring, gentle and confident! She quietly moved about the room to do everything in her power to comfort me. If it wasn't with words it was with actions. I was scared to death and yet I knew Dena was right there managing everything. Even as much as I vomited and wretched she was very calming. I had total confidence in her. Her touch and even the cool cloth to my head were extras.

When she said she was signing off and that is was her "Friday", then she said she stayed over her shift to get my pain under control and it was her birthday night. She stayed because a patient mattered.
