My husband and I are both Parkview employees. I'm a nurse, and my husband is a hospitalist physician. We were recently taken care of at the family birthing center for the birth of our first baby. Our nurse, Dena, was truly remarkable and provided an exceptional level of care during this time. Throughout the labor process, our baby had multiple decelerations in his heart rate, which altered our initial birth plan. As a first-time mom, this experience was terrifying, as I didn't know what to expect. She took the time to talk to us and provide reassurance with each of our questions. We ultimately needed to have a c-section, which was something I hadn't planned for. During the prep prior to surgery, I was extremely nervous as I didn't know what to expect. Dena never left my side and provided endless reassurance and compassion. She helped to explain everything that happened and what to expect each step of the way. After delivery, she was beyond attentive, answered all of our questions, and stayed with me until I felt comfortable. I cannot begin to explain how safe she made me feel throughout this entire process, I truly can't imagine having any other nurse during this time. I think she exemplifies what a DAISY Nurse represents: someone who goes above and beyond for their patient while showing an endless amount of compassion. Parkview is blessed to have such an incredible nurse taking care of moms during such a tender time in their lives.
