During the course of a recent weekend, one of our residents experienced the illness and eventual loss of a very beloved, very long-lived goldfish – “Peanut.” Denise took the time to help prepare the resident for the fish’s passing. When “Peanut” passed away, Denise made the effort to honor him while supporting our residents' emotional well-being. Denise was able to hold a burial for “Peanut,” and he is now laid to rest under a peony bush outside the resident’s room. This resident has unique mental health needs, and I am not sure that many other staff members would have thought to handle the situation as Denise did. This is just one example of how Denise cares for the “whole resident.” All the residents in our building are blessed to be under her care.
