We had contacted a patient to come to her scheduled appointment procedure early. the patient arrived and stated that she had a quick appointment with a physician in the outpatient clininc. She was admitted to the department then saw her physician. She returned visibly upset and crying. Denise quickly assessed the situation and escorted the patient into a conference room. It was then the patient broke down and stated she had received news that she had breast cancer. Denise contacted the patients family and stayed with her to comfort and pray with her. The patient decided to complete her test that day, Denise stayed with her the entire time holding her hand. Unfortunatly the patient did not receive good news that day, a large suspicious mass was found in her colon. Again Denise was there especially for the family as they recieved an overwhelming amount of negative news that day. i would like to recognize Denise as she consistently delivers compassioonate patient and family centerd care.
