Denise leads by example in providing safe and excellent care for our patients.
Denise Taylor is an incredible example of living out a meaningful nursing career. Denise has directly cared for medical-surgical patients, new mothers, newborn babies, sick children, emergent patients, and patients in critical care. She has also served as an extraordinary educator, a spectacular supervisor, and notable nursing services manager. Denise has been a mentor and confidant to many fellow nurses and colleagues throughout her entire career.
Within the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) specifically, Denise has been a nursing supervisor, clinic manager, manager of nursing services and the float pool, and interim Executive Director of Nursing. But none of these titles can fully encompass the impact she has been on our medical group. Denise is the “go-to” colleague for all things, not only because of her extensive knowledge, but also her warm personality and inviting presence.
One of Denise’s greatest strengths is her advocacy and support for her colleagues. She is a listening ear to colleagues, holds them accountable, and supports them in both personal and professional growth. Denise leads by example in providing safe and excellent care for our patients. In her time as float pool and nursing services manager, she has managed both clinical and non-clinical colleagues, including COVID door screeners, Patient Service Representatives (PSRs), Ambulatory Care Aides (ACAs), Medical Assistants (MAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Registered Nurses (RNs).
Denise has also dreamt of and developed new programs within SAMG. Our Ambulatory Care Aids have added needed resources to our care teams while encouraging each of our colleagues to practice at the top of their scope. She also helped to create our Medical Assistant program within SAMG that allows PSR colleagues to learn and train to become MAs in our health system.
Words will never fully capture the extensive knowledge and work that Denise has brought to the nursing profession. She exemplifies all aspects of a “DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award” and will forever have a footprint in her patients’ lives and the lives of her colleagues. As Matthew 25:23 states, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
