Denise is a rockstar nurse. Patients love her, but so do her peers! She went above and beyond when 3 C-sections were occurring around the same time. She did a fantastic job as the scrub tech and really "pivoted" with the best attitude and desire to help. I really appreciate this about Denise; she is always willing to do what's right by the patient.

For context, this was Sunday with already short staffing, and we had 3 very urgent deliveries (one of which was a set of twins) that needed to happen essentially simultaneously. With only 1 scrub tech available, Denise (who has been surgically trained in the past) decided to step up and help by fulfilling the extreme need of a second surgical tech (due to running multiple ORs at once). It would have been easy for Denise to continue with her usual high-risk antepartum patient care duties, but instead, she chose to extend a helping hand without even being asked. She offered this when she noticed the provider team (including me) was struggling with how to properly allocate resources. It was as if she were the saving grace that everyone needed.

Denise's selfless actions that day didn't just benefit our clinical team! Her contribution had an exponential impact: 4 babies, 6 parents, 12 grandparents, and countless others! RNs like Denise are who make the patient experience! What we do here is a privilege of a lifetime, and Denise inspires us to give patients the best version of ourselves every single day!
