Deniseworks in the Emergency Department. She is the first face of Adventist for every patient who comes to the ED via ambulance during her shift. Denise meets each patient and the EMR team with a calm, welcoming demeanor. Their room has always been preassigned and the RN who will care for them is ready to receive the assignment. She conveys the welcoming attitude to each staff and MD who work with her. When she is working, it is "her ED."
One day was especially difficult. A patient had coded, several mental health patients were boarding in the unit, there were more patients than staff, and there was a need for equipment. With all those pressure points, the unit was calm, quiet, and professional. Denise demonstrates care and compassion for the patients in "her ED" as well as the team she works with.
