Denise received communication that Franklin Co KS was going to be receiving a patient with multiple health care concerns for a 90-day commitment. In addition to a long list of medications that would require special attention and care, the patient was also on oxygen and had mobility issues that would make it difficult to house the patient in one of the medical cells and the cell area assigned to their gender was full. Denise immediately went to work making multiple phone calls, generating emails, and in-person discussions to inform jail administration, coordinate with the patient's Primary care provider's office and patient to determine what equipment/ medications/ environment the jail would need to prepare for. Her efforts spanned several hours over a few days and her foresight and attention to detail allowed the jail to reorganize pods and housing to be prepared for the patient's arrival and make sure that the patient brought needed equipment and supplies to ensure a smooth delivery of her care. Denise's response to the patient's needs ensured the patient received the care they needed.
