I am a firm believer that great nurses can change people's lives. My mother is a retired pediatric nurse, so my standards for nurses are pretty high. We were blessed to have Denise as my daughter’s primary nurse during her 37-day stay in the NICU. She unfortunately had a rough start in life. I ended up having an emergency C-section at 32 weeks. As a first-time mom, I was struggling myself. On top of that, being a NICU mom was not a club I ever imagined being a part of.
I don't know what I would have done without Denise. She took us under her wing and helped guide us on the road to home. She was always there to answer any question, extinguish any fear, and cure any doubt we had. She helped my husband overcome his fear of holding our daughter. She went out of her way to help us take photos of our daughter when she turned one month old because she knew how important it was to me. She came to the hospital on her day off to discharge us.
Denise became family and our lives are forever changed because of her. She went above and beyond for us. As hard as it was to leave my daughter each day, I always felt better knowing she was with Denise. I will never be able to adequately thank her for everything she did for me and my family. Nurses like Denise are hard to find and she is one in a million!
