Denise is a parish nurse who wanted to help the underserved population of the homeless. She volunteers her time at the Gospel Rescue Mission, giving medical advice, providing basic health care needs and lately has recruited nurses, a surgeon and medical doctors to her cause. The benefits of having the doctors at the gospel mission are not just realized by the patients, but also the doctors and nurses involved.

Comments from the doctors have included, “I haven’t felt this good about being a doctor since I graduated college” and “it feels good to help someone who is trying to make a positive change in their life”. What an inspiration!

Denise also volunteers in the Homeless Count Across America, shot clinics, and other parish work. She has found a way to help some of the 830 homeless people in Josephine County receive health care and inspired health care providers to become a part of this wonderful system.
