Denise's clinical expertise and compassionate care demonstrate the highest standards of the nursing profession to her patients and their families. A member of the Greenville Shriners Hospital team for 18 years, Denise is an advanced practice nurse who wears many hats at the hospital from pain management for our surgical patients to working with our specialty clinics.
"Denise is an extraordinary nurse making an enormous difference in the lives of many children and their families at the Greenville Shriners Hospital. Families, staff, and patients have respect and confidence in her clinical skills and caring attitude," says Allison Windas, Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Patient Care Services.

"It is rare to find such a role model with the commitment, integrity, and compassion that Denise brings to the nursing profession. She serves as a great asset to not only this hospital but to our patients and families. She goes above and beyond in her role as a Pain Management Nurse. She treats each child as if they were her own. She spends extra time educating the parents on the medications and explaining how they will help their child. She isn't satisfied until the patient receives the pain relief they deserve. She puts our patients and families first!"
...
"In addition to her pain management responsibilities, Denise supports the many in the fast growing Tone Management Program. She exemplifies excellent skills and compassionate care to some of our most chronically ill children by managing the Baclofen pumps under the supervision of the neurosurgeon and assisting the physiatrist in the coordination of Botox and oral Baclofen clinics. Her many years of professional excellence and devotion to the Greenville Shriners Hospital's mission has changed many lives."
...
"Denise always amazes me by her warm heart, cheerfulness, and patience with our very ill patients, their families, and her colleagues. Denise is an example of self-discipline and great physical presentation. Denise plays a vital role in the success of the Tone Management Program and the children benefit greatly from her devotion, compassionate nursing skills, and care."

Denise says she is humbled by the recognition, "This is what I do, every day, from the heart. Having it be recognized and rewarded is awesome! I really feel special working here!"
