September 2014 Honoree
denise vieux olivier, RN
In life, if you are lucky, you stumble across a few people who you can connect with, and it's special. When you find a person like that, and they happen to be someone in charge of your care and well-being you have struck gold. This is 1,000% the case with Denise.
From the time I came in for a "false alarm" to three days after the birth of my son, Denise has made me feel like I was one of her own. She literally wiped the tears from my eyes when I cried from fear. When I was worried that my second trip to the hospital was going to be another "false alarm". She was clear and kind in letting me know I belonged where I was and would not be a bother at all. When it came time to decide to go get my son via c-section Denise held my hands and helped me come to terms with my choice. She held my hands, hugged me, and cared for me in a way that went much deeper that patient/nurse. She made me feel like family, and that helped a scary situation feel manageable. She even went to the trouble of coming to visit us in mommies & babies this morning, her first shift back since I delivered.
I hope in some small way this DAISY Award nomination shows our appreciation for the care she provided selflessly and lovingly. She is a TRUE gift and a shining example of a person doing what they love and sending love through all they do. We are blessed to have met Denise and will always love her.
