He totally made the situation feel normal with a lot of humor along with it. He didn’t stop there. He took it to another level.
What a blessing it was for me to have this RN as my nurse. Now is my turn to honor him. I would like to share some of my time under his care. This RN greeted the transporter and me. He assisted in getting me transferred to my bed, seeing everything was set up and hooked up. In a warm and joyful personality, he introduced himself. Making all of us feel relaxed after my injury and getting ready for surgery. He went over the care plan with everyone and took the time to answer our concerns. For anyone who has experienced a stay in the hospital and has had the feeling of humiliation during a restroom need…NOT with this RN. He totally made the situation feel normal with a lot of humor along with it. He didn’t stop there. He took it to another level. Getting me a warm washcloth that made me feel totally clean and refreshed. With my family members spending a lot of time with me, I would mention to them something I wanted or needed, but before they could get it here, he came with it. I wondered if it was just me that he was this way with. OH NO!! My family clearly broke my bubble!! They said they had noticed he was that way with all his patients on that floor. We never got “I don’t know the answer” and then leave us hanging on the question. He would say, “Let me find out, and I’ll get back to you,” and he did every time. Whenever I was out of my bed, he would see that it was straightened up. That may seem meaningless to some, but when you’re laying in that bed, it means a lot. It’s an amazing feeling when you get back in bed with no wrinkles. When he was walking by a room, he would pop his head in. With that cheerful voice, “Is there anything I can get you?”
You can feel the compassion this RN has not only for his patients but also for the dedication he has for his profession.
