When the COVID-19 pandemic started our unit was one of the designated units. With that being said, we revived a positive patient who flew in from another hospital in New Mexico. Denny was the assigned nurse for the patient, the patient, unfortunately, passed away today. During the patient's stay, Denny went above and beyond for the patient. He provided the most excellent care anyone would pray for at the end of life! He bathed the patient and did oral care, made her comfortable till the end. He went in and checked on her periodically knowing she was on comfort care. I could not hear enough thank you's from family members for how great he was. Once Denny knew the patient's sats were dropping, he went into the room with no hesitation and said, "I don't want her to die alone." He stayed in the room holding her hand till she passed away. With family members not being able to be at the bedside, he did the most courageous thing ever. He is the perfect example of what nursing is. It's love, care, and having a passion for your job. Denny is a true DAISY Nurse.
