Our smiling ICU nurse Derek was the kindest, most sincere, and comforting person that we had in all the weeks we have been in the hospital. Despite the high acuity level of our dad, he managed to provide individualized care to him as well as supportive care to us as a family. Our dad was in very critical condition, but Derek saw to it that we were on the road to recovery. He was willing to go the extra mile to be a patient and family advocate. He even took joy in the small things making sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable in our stay. His smile every time he entered the room provided us with hope and reassurance that our dad was well provided for. With our big family, he educated, accommodated, and implemented whatever resources we needed for our dad to recover. There was no other person who could have done a better job than he did. We are so grateful to have met this incredible nurse.
