January 2026 Honoree
Derrik Savig, RN
I came to Methodist/ICU in pretty bad shape. Vomiting from DKA, extreme pain from infection, and plans to amputate. Derrik took the time to get to know me and my complicated medical issues with such empathy, knowledge, and compassion. He helped clean me up and made me feel like a human again. He strategized a plan to help get my meds in my system, get my nausea under control, and get my pain under control, so that I could work towards starting my daily antidepressants and heartburn meds, so my symptoms didn't worsen. His knowledge, skills, and bedside manner are the best I have experienced in 25 years as a type 1 diabetic and frequent hospital visitor.
Thank you, Derrik, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
