August 2026 Honoree
Deryck Hill, RN
"How will we celebrate our wedding anniversary when I am in intensive care?" asked my husband. Little did I know that God would speak to the tender, caring heart of his nurse, Deryck Hill. Deryck used his own money to order half a dozen red roses, balloons shaped like "56," and a precious card, and presented them to us in that intensive care room for our 56th wedding anniversary. It would be our last together. My husband died five days later. Deryck’s act of compassion made our last anniversary forever special. I am nominating Deryck Hill for this act of kindness for the DAISY Foundation Award.
Thank you, Deryck, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
